Cancún has over 200 days of sun a year and temperatures that average around 80F. Considering this kind of weather, it's easy to understand why it's Mexico's #1 tourist destination. It's on the top of the Yucatan peninsula, and its beaches are gorgeous- large expanses of gleaming white sand stretched out beside the clear turquoise waters of the Caribbean. 700 years ago and more, Cancún consisted of the great Mayan civilization. Now, this tropic paradise joins with it's ancient past and has become one of the world's most modern and popular resort areas. Cancun has a variety of dining, night life, shopping, and the tropical ambience, which brings in over two million visitors yearly. Cancun's famous hotel zone, which is where the tourists know best, is a fourteen mile long, thin shaped peninsula shaped like a "7." To the north is the Caribbean Sea that has wide open beaches with waves. The west has the shore that is protected by Isla Mujeres (Isle of Women), which causes smooth waters. South, between the peninsula and mainland is Nichupte Lagoon- which people use for water sports.
Cancun was created by design for its present purpose, as the perfect vacation destination. It's in a natural tropical setting with all the comforts of civilization.

The downtown of Cancún is a very different from the hotel zone, because it's a residential area of 450,000 people. It consists of open air markets, not malls, street vendors and outdoor cafes instead of air-conditioned restaurants. It isn't as fancy as the hotel zone, but it is growing fast and is interesting.
There are restaurants such as Outback Steakhouse, Dunkin' Donuts, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, and McDonalds and Blockbuster in the hotel zone nearby. The whole family is welcome and will have fun in Cancún. Much development has gone into attractions that will be of interest to all ages. AquaWorld is one that appeals to all ages. It has wave runners, water skiing, windsurfing, catamarans, paddle boats, sailboats, kayaks, floats and boogie boards. Go on the sub sea explorer craft with large glass windows for underwater viewing of fish, coral formations, turtles, and other marine life. Fun!<

Children will also like Xcaret, the waterside theme park. Cancún has a big variety of night time entertainment. Most hotels have discos where dancing continues late into the night. Ballet Folklórico de Mexico performs every night at the Continental Villas Plaza Hotel. Latin music is performed live at many clubs. Rock 'n roll oldies bring crowds of partiers and dancers to Planet Hollywood and the Hard Rock Café. Comedy acts and romantic dinner cruises are also very popular. Holidays and parties give more opportunities for activities in Cancun. In the church plaza, fancy dances passed down from generation to generation, and continue on for a long time. Dancers dress in symbolic and traditional costumes of bright colors. Bullfights in the Yucatan, both the bull and the matador must end the sport unharmed. Live music comes with the contest. At the end, the bull is untied and returns to his home. Step back from life's stresses, and visit Cancún. It is an interesting land of beauty.

Phone cards are for sale at the OXXO Minimart, as well as some food. It's a short walking distance south of Girasol or second level at Forum By The Sea plaza just north of Girasol. There is a pay phone at the hotel lobby that takes credit cards, also. There is a phone in the room that uses a special 800 number, and a credit card for collect calls, and can be used for incoming calls. We don't know how much it costs to use this phone. They will take messages at the hotel. There is an internet wifi cafe that is free at Starbucks, with your own laptop, next to Carlos and Charlies. Otherwise, there is an internet and calling store in the Carlos and Charlies shopping center. We recommend that you buy bottled water at the OXXO to use.You can get a transfer from the condo to the airport for about $12/person with a reservation. Check the "things to do" page above to see the website for this shuttle. There are many taxis at the airport that are easily available, also. They are more expensive. The condos we are advertising are budget condos (except for the penthouse and Salvia), and are not 5 star hotels. They are decent, but are not fancy. Blue Bay is a lovely resort, but not in the hotel zone.

The entire Cancun coast is federal property and is open to all. The private beach at the Girasol is a mixture of crushed coral & sea shells making it a bright white and, at 80-90 degree daytime temperature, cool to the touch. The beach about 100 yards south is great for swimming or body surfing. The Girasol Beach Condo water is a wonderful 85 degrees! From downtown Cancun to Punta Cancun the coast is protected by off-shore Isla Mujeres island with almost no surf, where the wide-open beaches in front of Girasol all the way down the “Hotel Zone” have surf.

Playa Del Carmen is also an interesting place to visit, 22 miles south of Cancun. Have a traditional Mexican beach experience with restaurants and bars on the sand.

Cozumel is has the best of Caribbean Mexico's snorkeling and diving. Many dive and snorkeling boats leave port each day to hit the huge amount of sites offshore here. Places such as Passion Island, Gorgonian Flats, La Villa Blanca Reef, Pico's Reef, the LaCeiba Reef Preserve, Aeroplane Wreck, International Pier, Paraiso North and South, Paradise Shallows, Las Palmas Shallows, Holiday Inn Reef, Chankanaab Underwater Park, Beachcomber Cavern, and Punta Chiqueros all can be reached from shore, and offer a good variety of sea life and lots of fish. For those who want to head out in a boat, the fabulous expanses of coral reef known as Palancar and Columbia await. Perhaps our best snorkeling experience in Cozumel was outside of the hotel - Coral Princess Club. The coral make for some really interesting species, and many! Another recommended snorkeling area is Dzul Ha, south of the Fiesta Americana. This called drift snorkeling. Be careful of the current. People have said nice things about this area.
Cancun has many sites that are great for snorkeling. Maybe the best is Punta Nizuc, just beyond Club Med. The water is very shallow, and there are a lot fish. People have seen great barracuda in two feet of water, though, and became a bit nervous. Other good snorkeling spots are Cuevenos, northeast of Punta Cancun, El Bajito, north of Punta Cancun, and Chintales, northwest of Punta Cancun. The Nizuc Reef can also be snorkeled farther out by boat, and Aquaworld has created a floating island.
Snorkeling tours go to Isla Mujeras. Tavos Reef, Manchones Reef, and Manchones Xico are fantastic sites that need to be reached by boat. There are sites such as El Garrafon and Lighthouse that also offer great snorkeling from shore.

Beaches- The Beaches are the best attraction in Cancun with their soft, white sand and their warm, sparkling, turquoise-blue water.
Boats & Watersports- For fun in the water, try- boats, jet skis, fishing charters, parasailing, water skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, party boats, or gourmet dinner cruises.
Cenotes- Cenotes are caves in underground rivers. They are great places to swim, snorkel, and dive in the underwater caves. Check link below. Cultural Activities- Looking for local cultural activities? Take part in Cancun's many Cultural Activities, like bullfights, folkloric ballets, museums, and more.
Ecology & Parks- Cancun's Eco-Parks have the chance to visit gorgeous natural environments, explore nature, swim with dolphins, and take fun rides on water slides.
Golf & Fun - Golf, Tennis, Mopeds. Rent mopeds and bicycles, driving go-karts, horseback riding, golf courses and tennis.
Mayan Ruins- Visiting at least one of the numerous Mayan Ruins scattered throughout the Yucatán Peninsula are historically very interesting. Don't miss Chitchen Itza, it's fascinating!
Scuba & Snorkeling- For some undersea adventure, click on the Scuba guide farther down on the page.
Swim with dolphins. In hotel zone area you can swim with these intelligent creatures- at the end of the hotel zone past Punta Nizuc, on the way to the airport is this family water-park that has rides and attractions. Typical local market- Merrcado 28 (veintiocho) or Mercado 23 (veintitres). Both are downtown, and local buses or cabs can take you to either. They feature local handicrafts and gifts cheaper than the hotel zone. No, this is best for shopping for an inexpensive gift. Or buying fresh vegetables. Hotel Zone Disco Bulldog Cafe is on the side of the Hotel Krystal in the heart of Cancun's hotel zone. Hip Hop Latin Disco. Jacuzzi inside the disco! It's the only nightclub in Cancun with an open bar all night long with top name drinks.
Restaurants- if you want to go to a different restaurant every night of your vacation, you will need a long time in Cancun, as there are over 200 restaurants. For a great restaurant have a look at Bogarts. We like Le Distilleria by Kulkulcan Plaza. There is TGI Fridays, Le Distilleria, Ruth's Criss Steak House, Rainforest Cafe, Outback, and many, many more restaurants to choose from.
Showtime at Blue Bay. Worth a look- is Showtime at Blue Bay. Ecological park in Cancun- also It's free. See spider monkeys, replicas of Mayan dwelings, ducks and crocodiles.

Transportation to the condo can be arranged once you arrive at the airport. There are shuttle busses, van services & taxis that can be hired for a reasonable fee to transport you to the condos. We are about 25 minutes from the airport, about 12 miles. The van shuttle services charge about $10 - $14 USD (negotiable) per person and will transport your baggage. Autos can also be rented at the airport from many car rental agencies. You probably will not need a car unless you are familiar with the city and plan to travel outside of the Cancun area. The insurance is very costly. Most tourists travel around Cancun by bus or taxi, unless you really want to see the country yourself. The tours will usually pick you up. The public transportation system in Cancun is very safe and efficient. Buses pass by the hotel zone every 5 minutes and are about $0.65 USD. They will even take you to Walmart for groceries, which is the best place to buy them. Driving in Cancun can be rather nerve wracking also!
